What changed: Anthropic launched user profiles: businesses that operate a platform or gateway, or resell API access, can now tell Anthropic which end customer each API request is for, so a safety enforcement action can apply to one end customer instead of the whole organization. The SDK and the ant CLI support the new /v1/user_profiles endpoints. Anthropic also added organization webhooks to the Admin API, in beta under the webhooks-2026-10-07 beta header, covering two event types: when a user profile is restricted or banned, and when that restriction or ban ends; access requires contacting your Anthropic account team.

Who is affected

Businesses that operate a platform or gateway on top of the Claude API, or resell API access.

What it means for your business

For businesses running a platform or gateway on the Claude API, this means a single misbehaving end customer's violation no longer risks a restriction on the whole account.

What to do

If you operate a platform or resell API access, use the SDK or ant CLI to call the new /v1/user_profiles endpoints and tag each request with its end customer; contact your Anthropic account team for organization webhook access.

When it takes effect

The source states this launched with the October 20, 2026 release notes; the webhook feature is in beta with no separate effective date given.
