What changed: Shopify now shares a product's compare-at price with AI shopping agents through Shopify Catalog, so these agents can see when an item is marked down; previously, agents reading Catalog only saw the current price, not the markdown price shown on the storefront.

Who is affected

The source covers merchants who use Shopify Catalog and expose their products to AI shopping agents; no specific country or industry limitation is stated.

What it means for your business

For businesses using Shopify, this means AI shopping agents can now see a product's discounted (compare-at) price too, so markdown information may also reach shoppers through these agents.

What to do

Go to the 'Compare-at' section in Shopify admin settings and choose whether AI agents are allowed to see your compare-at prices.

When it takes effect

The source page does not state a separate effective date; the change was announced in Shopify's changelog post dated October 9, 2026.
