What changed: Shopify stores now display a brief confirmation message showing the destination address before sending customers to an external website. Customers can proceed or return to the store. Connected store domains and supported Shopify and social websites do not trigger the message. Sites merchants own but have not connected may still trigger it. Customers reach domains added as trusted without seeing the message.

Who is affected

The change affects businesses using Shopify Online Store and customers following links from their stores to external websites.

What it means for your business

For businesses using Shopify Online Store, customers following links to booking tools or partner websites may encounter a confirmation message, while domains added as trusted allow direct access.

What to do

Review the external domains linked from your store. Add addresses you trust, such as a booking tool or partner website, to the trusted domains in Online Store > Preferences.

When it takes effect

The source describes external redirect confirmation as already active. The option to add other trusted domains becomes available from October 21.
