What changed: Under the Globalstars programme, which allows cooperation with non-Eureka member countries, a new call was opened to support joint R&D and innovation projects with Japan. The call involves 16 countries including Turkey and covers all R&D fields except nuclear energy, drug development and regenerative medicine product development.
Who is affected
Capital companies established in Turkey that want to form a consortium with at least one Japanese company to run a joint R&D and innovation project.
What it means for your business
For Turkish companies with a Japanese partner, this means they can apply both internationally and nationally under the 1509 programme for R&D project support.
What to do
Find a Japanese partner, form a consortium with at least one company each from Turkey and Japan, submit the international application via the Eureka platform by 20 January 2027, and file the national pre-application under the 1509 programme on the dates TÜBİTAK will announce by email. Consult your accountant or legal adviser before acting on this.
When it takes effect
International applications opened on 7 October 2026 and close on 20 January 2027.
